We have the rainy season in June and July in Japan. The rain is not heavy usually in the rainy season but it rains just often and generally drizzle. In Nepal they also have the rainy season. It last from June to September usually.



The rain is different from Japanese rainy season. It rains almost everyday with occasional thunderstorms. It is a type of monsoon. A monsoon is not just heavy rain that lasts for a long time, rather the country is drenched by rain.
One of my friend in Nepal often told me that he happens to be soaked with rain on his way home from somewhere. That is not just "wet" but "soaked" or "drenched".

So guide books commonly say that best time of visiting or trekking in Nepalis the dry season from October to May which starts from October and lasts till May.

August is great in a way

But I got one information on the high season for trekking at the event I mentioned before. In fact, August is the best season for trekking on the mountains in a way.

Lately I met one guy running the travel agency in Japan and I found the event on April 23th in his homepage.

The guy with long term experience of staying in the mountains said that August is the best season. Because alpine plants grow so beautiful after the rain. As you know, plants get green and lush during the rainy season.

Btw lali gurans which is the national flower of Nepal will lay over everywhere after the rainy season. It must be worth to go and see.

ネパールの雨季

日本では、6月と7月に雨季があります。すごい雨ということはあまりなく、ただよく降り、大抵しとしと降ります。 ネパールにも雨季があります。6月から9月まで続きます。

でも雨季の降り方は日本と違います。だいたい毎日、雷も伴ったりします。モンスーンと呼ばれるタイプです。モンスーンは ただ激しい雨が降るだけじゃなく、長い間降り、ネパールは水浸しになります。
わたしのネパールに住む友達は、よくどこからかの帰り道に、ずぶ濡れになっちゃったと 言ってます。「濡れた」じゃなくて「びしょびしょ」とか「ずぶ濡れ」です。

ネパールにいくベストシーズン

ということで、ガイドブックには大抵ネパールに行ったり、トレッキングしたりするのに 一番良いのは10月から5月の乾季だと出ています。

ネパールトレッキングは8月がいいらしい

でも、わたしトレッキングによい季節を先日のイベントで聞いてきました。 実は8月が山にいくのには、ある意味で良いんです。

最近、日本で旅行会社を経営している男性と出会いました。23日のイベントの情報はその方のHPで見つけたんです。

長期間、山に居た経験があるこの男性曰く、8月がベストシーズンなんだそうです。というのも、雨の後は高山植物が美しいので。確かに、雨季の後って、緑が濃くなりますよね。

この方の ホームページ(ヒマラヤトレッキングサパナ）を見て確かめてみてください ^ ^。 実はトレッキングって考えたことなかったけど、興味が出てきました。

ちなみに、ラリグラスというネパールの国華は、雨季のあと、あちこちに咲き乱れるそうです。見る価値ありそう！
